Self Confidence –
The Most Effective Tool For Success
Self confidence is one of the most important aspects of any
individual. It takes a lot of time to build self-confidence
especially if you have been through one of the most disheartening
and de-motivating situations in life. Actually it also varies from
person to person. Some people can take a tragedy head on and yet
not loose self confidence while others falter.
Losing self-confidence is a psychological problem. It is all in
the mind. Most people lose faith in themselves after a tragedy,
mishap or event that changed the course of their lives. But where
there is a will, there is always a way and all of us at certain
times in our life need a boost of self-confidence. So how can you
really bring back your self-confidence? The process may take
longer but the first and foremost thing is to instill a belief
that you can do it.
Most people who are low on self confidence need nothing more than
guidance. If you can guide them in the right way and show them how
to look at the brighter side of life and how much strength they
really have then, people will find a way within themselves to get
their self confidence back. Here are a few things that will help
to bring back or boost self confidence
• Feel good factor: This is a rare factor especially in the age we
are living in. We seldom feel good about anything and when we do,
it doesn’t last for too long. The feel good factor can inspire
just about anyone. But for this, you need to first identify three
or four things that will make you feel good. Once you have
identified them, keep them in your mind like a pleasant memory, a
dream, an event etc. Remember them whenever you feel down. This
will help you to battle the negative forces like depression,
stress etc and increase your self confidence.
• Self Conscious: This is the enemy number one. If you are a very
thin person and don’t have a girlfriend of people don’t mix with
you so much or if you are not popular, then you will reach the
self conscious stage, which is harmful as it will destroy your
self-confidence. The result is that you will go deeper into the
quicksand of depression, self abuse, self destruction, self hatred
and this can even lead to suicide.
The best way to fight it is by believing in the fact that it can’t
get any worse from here – it can only get better. You can probably
wear better clothes and meet likeminded people over the Internet
and form your own group. The fact that you are thin and don’t have
a girlfriend will be immaterial after a time, because you will
have so many more friends. If necessary go for a personality
change by changing your hairstyle, removing your spectacles and
getting contact lenses and some people even change their wardrobe.
With success your self-confidence is bound to increase. However,
you must keep yourself grounded because when people tend to become
over-confident and over-stretch themselves, they tend to muddle up
more.
