Weight Loss
Motivation
One of the critical and rising issues today is obesity and
over-weight. More and more people around the world are becoming
over weight, which has highly destructive consequences. Being over
weight can lead to physical problems like heart attack, diabetes,
blood sugar and other chronic heart diseases. But more than that
there are certain psychological issues also attached with it.
Overweight and obesity can lead de-motivate an individual
completely and this can lead to loss of confidence, high levels of
self consciousness, different types of withdrawal symptoms,
un-socialized behaviors, insomnia and depression.
The best way to fight obesity or overweight is through a weight
loss program. But it is easier said that done. It is always
difficult to follow a diet that will deprive you of all the food
that you love to eat like chocolates, pastries, doughnuts, beef or
pork. Again, the main thing is that, it is all in the mind but we
seldom realize it. Hence motivation is required to follow up on
the weight loss diet program.
A weight loss program will also comprise of a routine exercise
program apart from the diet program. It is at times tough for
individuals to start an exercise program, visit a gym or go for a
walk outdoors. Here are some pointers to help you get the required
motivation while following a weight loss program:
Be Practical: Always be practical. Don’t aim to loose 20lbs within
2 weeks. Weight loss is a slow and gradual process and you should
follow a diet. If you keep your expectations high then failure
will de-motivate you further.
Set small goals: Small goals can be achieved with ease. So if you
set weekly and fortnightly goals and achieve them then it will
motivate you to achieve bigger goals for longer duration like a
monthly goal or a quarterly goal.
Partner: If you can work with a partner then it will help you
tremendously as both of you can provide motivation to the other.
The second most important thing is that you can also provide each
other with feedback, dos and don’ts and above all, find
inspiration.
Strength & Weaknesses: Every individual has certain strengths and
weaknesses. So if you have a weakness for chocolate desserts then
what you can really do is replace it with some nutritious and
tasty fruit salads, which are healthy for the body. This will help
you to control your temptation and at the same time it will not
de-motivate you.
Reward: Reward has always been the perfect motivational factor and
it still is even in weight loss programs. If you achieve your
weekly target then you should reward yourself by visiting a spa
and relaxing your mind and body or go on a weekend holiday to a
mountain resort and find peace of mind. This kind of a reward will
keep you motivated through out the weight loss program and also
provide you with relaxation.
When trying to lose weight, nothing can be more motivating than
losing a couple of kilos early during the process. Motivation
stimulates the mind and provides will power that can help you
through the weight loss program with ease and bring good results.
Don’t forget to reward your self for even the slightest change in
your weight. Keep going and think positive, your dream of weight
loss won’t be a dream any more.Darren Williger
